We got up and went to Ely to catch the train to London. The girls were really good on the train - it was a fun ride!
Trains are fun for ALL ages!
Sister LOVE;)
Patiently riding...
We got on the Tube at King's Cross, where they told us the closest stop to Buckingham Palace was Knightsbridge. They were WRONG. But, it was a nice walk from the tube.
This building is the largest living building in London (or something like that) ;)
Everything was gorgeous!
We went through Apsley House, which is the Duke of Wellington's house. The family still lives in part of it. He defeated Napoleon at Waterloo - which is why we don't speak French.
It was old and ornate - and had many fancies in the China Room.
We continued on to Buckingham - huge. HUGE!
We watched the guards for a bit, and moved on to lunch at a Spanish restaurant near Victoria Station.
She's just as beautiful in person...
@ the Queen's Gallery
Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and some double deckers. ;)
We grabbed a Costa (similar to Starbucks) and walked up to the Abbey.
Gorgeous. Breathtaking. Must-do, religious or NOT!
There really aren't words that do it proper justice. There is so much detail and unbelievable architecture and history in such an OLD structure.
Oh, and...no pictures allowed inside. But I snuck a few with my phone.
We continued walking toward Big Ben and Parliament.
We walked to the London Eye to see how much it was to ride. The line was extremely short, and it was pretty reasonable so we jumped on. Before getting on, I dropped the buggies at the desk and returned to find Nat and the girls being bombarded by people from India - paparazzi style. Not sure what that was all about, but it happened again when we were inside the pod too. Strange!
Anyway, the Eye was a fun way to view London - especially since it started sprinkling while we were in it! You could see almost anything from up there!
This is a portable concert hall that you can rent for parties or events.
The girls loved it too!
Big Ben and Parliament
Buckingham Palace
Westminster Abbey
Fun in the EYE!
On the way home, we were told incorrect station/tube stops AGAIN, but we made it back eventually.
It was a great experience - I loved the city, but I think I'm partial to the country! SO not like me, but there is such a charm to these towns and countryside.
It was a great day!!
